Day 6

Another low energy day, mostly due to some pretty draining work stuff I ended up taking a 2 hour nap before I put in 1.5-2 hours tonight (I forgot to note the start time). Still dreading the level design so as a break from that I decided to start preparing for the tutorial and incorperating the jam themes via the narrative. I setup dialog's, loading the house and new forrest, and created a collectable that enables the catch minigame. This was very straight forward/not much learning. TLDR: State charts are still awesome.

I have been thinking about a plot/narrative in the background but haven't really discussed it much. Partially because I didn't want to count my chickens before the hatch, especially when it comes to art/visuals. Being half way now I think I have something plausible to execute. I won't "spoil" the inevitably very short experience but you play as a home alone child with an distant parental feature, you find a net and spend your time playing in the forest. I am hoping to have a 3 day story arc where more of the forest unlocks each night.

Tomorrow's theme is going to be prepping the game for it's first playtest build and tutorial key prompts.

Time spent: 2 hours
